Why we love it
Microneedling is also known as Collagen Induction Therapy so hands up if you want more collagen.
We all start to lose Collagen and Elastin by the time we are about 30, sad but true. The skin starts to lose volume and elasticity resulting in fine lines, wrinkles and the loss of that lovely plump look the skin has when we are younger. Because our skin is a natural barrier, topical skincare products can only do so much and go so deep. With microneedling we are instigating the natural wound healing capabilities of our skin. This results in new collagen and elastin being formed. Think of it as being similar to when we lift weights, tiny tears are created in the muscles with an aim of the muscles being rebuilt bigger and stronger. With microneedling, by causing microscopic wounds to our skin we are triggering the wound healing resulting in skin which is plumper, stronger and more elastic. Fine lines and wrinkles are filled out and the appearance of pores are reduced.
As a result of microneedling we are also helping our skin to be better able absorb topical products by creating these tiny wounds. In our Microneedling+ treatment we transcutaneously apply a cocktail of active ingredients to your skin during whilst microneedling which is absorbed 200x more than it would be normally.
What will it feel like?
Your microneedling treatment is done using a device which has either 12, 24 or 36 miniscule needles capable of causing up to 22,000 micro punctures per minute. The needles can be adjusted to the perfect length based on the area of your skin being treated and your skin concern.
To prepare your skin for your treatment you will need to pre-prime your skin with prescribed products. This all helps to ensure optimal results from your treatment.
The chances are your treatment will be relatively painless but we can discuss this at your consultation and if you are at all concerned a topical anaesthetic cream can be applied beforehand but this is very rarely necessary.
What is the downtime?
Everyone reacts differently but it is likely you will be red immediately afterwards however this normally subsides before the end of the day.
How soon can I get started?
Following your consultation we always prepare your skin at home for at least two weeks before we begin. This gets your treatment programme started immediately as well as making sure your skin is in the best condition to really maximise the results of the microneedling.
In the same way that when working the muscles in our body we need protein to rebuild the torn muscles, it is vital to ensure that your skin receives the correct homecare products so your priming products will continue to be very beneficial afterwards.
For optimum results a course of treatments is always recommended and
it is often complimented by chemical peels.
Microneedling is also a great treatment for pigmentation and scarring.
To really get your wound healing kick started why not add on 15 minutes under the LED device?
I love nothing more than to talk about all things skin so please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any question
