What are Skin Boosters and Polyneucleotides?
Skin boosters and Polyneucleotides are regularly at the top of everyone’s list when considering anti-ageing ‘tweakments’ thanks to their ability to increase elasticity and firmness. But, whilst they injectable treatments, they are all about boosting the health and hydration of the skin at the dermal layer and should not be confused with fillers.
Skin boosters are a highly concentrated, hyaluronic acid based substance similar to the consistency of honey. Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the dermis and being hydrophilic it draws and hold moisture.
Polyneucleotides are naturally derived molecules that work at a cellular level to repair and rejuvenate the skin.
- Increases hydration
- Stimulates fibroblast activity, enhancing collagen and elastin production
- Promote tissue regeneration
- Effective for treating fine lines, dullness, acne scars, and overall improve skin quality
- Suitable for all skin types
What is involved?
After ensuring that the area to be treated is clean and bacteria free, a local anaesthetic cream is applied. After this has taken effect the product is then injected very shallowly using a mesotherapy technique.
Are there any side effects or downtime involved?
There is no real downtime. It is common to have small bumps under the skin at the injection sites but this disperses very quickly and you can return to your normal life immediately although strenuous exercise, saunas or steam rooms should be avoided for the first day.
As with all injectable treatments there is a small risk of side effects, such as bruising or swelling at the injection sites. These are rare and if they occur then normally subside quickly
Is there a skin booster for the eye area?
The skin around the eyes is one of the questions I get asked about most. I don’t recommend hyaluronic acid skin boosters for the delicate eye area. It can cause unwanted puffiness. In most cases this area benefits from cell regeneration which is why I only advise polyneucleotides here. Three sessions at 2 week intervals is recommended.
How long does it take?
Depending on the area needing treatment I allow between 30-75 minutes per treatment
What is the cost?
Skin boosters - £225 per treatment (a course or 2-3 is needed)
Profhilo® - £260 per treatment (a course of 2-3 is needed
Polyneucleotides - eyes or other targeted area - £225
Polyneucleotides - full face and neck - £275
