What are Skin Boosters?
Think of them as internal moisturisers.
Skin boosters are regularly at the top of everyones list when considering anti-ageing ‘tweakments’ thanks to their ability to increase elasticity and firmness. But, whilst this is an injectable treatment is it all about boosting the health and hydration of the skin at the dermal layer and should not be confused with fillers.
Skin boosters are a highly concentrated, hyaluronic acid based substance similar to the consistency of honey. Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the dermis and being hydrophilic it draws and hold moisture. Unfortunately HA can start to deplete from the age of 20 and causes skin laxity as we age. Skin boosters are known as bio-remodelling treatments as they are injected into the dermis where they can spread out and here comes the best bit…..they stimulate the synthesis of collagen in your body as well as filling out the spaces in between the collagen fibres providing structure and support.
- Increases firmness, tightness and overall skin quality
- Rejuvenates skin
- Improves skin health from the inside out
- Stimulates your own natural cell signalling for ongoing benefits
- Suitable for all skin types
What is involved?
Using a 5 point pattern on each side of the face the HA is injected just below the skin surface. A course of treatments is required 4 weeks apart. Often 2 sessions are enough but some people require 3 sessions for optimal results.
Skin boosters can also be used on the neck as well as to boost hydration around the eye area.
How long does it take to see the effects?
You can start so see the results of the treatment after about 4 days but the full effects can be seen after the second treatment.
Are there any side effects or downtime involved?
There is no real downtime. It is common to have small bumps under the skin at the injection sites but this disperses very quickly and you can return to your normal life immediately although strenuous exercise, saunas or steam rooms should be avoided for the first day.
As with all injectable treatments there is a small risk of side effects, such as bruising or swelling at the injection sites. These are rare and if they occur then normally subside quickly
Is there a skin booster for the eye area?
The skin around the eyes is one of the questions I get asked about most. Using a combination of different skin boosters designed for use around the eye area I have created a treatment to boost hydration.
Not to be confused with filler, this treatment uses non-cross linked hyaluronic acid combined with amino acids to hydrate the skin under the eyes and stimulate collagen production. Once injected very superficially the product is able to spread out evenly leaving the eye area looking smoother and brighter.
Two treatments are needed 4 weeks apart. In some cases we might decide that one more treatment is needed for optimal results.
How long does it take?
30 mins is allowed for your treatment
